Study Background
We are studying how the brain and body work together during walking in teens with cerebral palsy.
Walking is something many of us take for granted, but for individuals with cerebral palsy (CP), it can be more challenging. This study uses advanced brain imaging techniques, along with clinical assessments to better understand how the brain controls walking in people with CP.
The goal is to observe differences in the brain and body while walking in those with cerebral palsy. By studying brain activity during movement, researchers and clinicians will be better able to understand the unique ways CP affects walking. In the long run, this knowledge may contribute to improved therapies and support for individuals with cerebral palsy.

Additional Information
This study aims to understand how the brain controls walking in teens with cerebral palsy. By learning more about brain activity during movement, researchers hope to improve therapies and expand scientific understanding of CP.
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Inclusion Criteria:
- Teen ages 13-18
- Diagnosed with cerebral palsy
Participation involves four study visits that include brain imaging and clinical assessments. Each session typically takes about 1.5 hours. If you are traveling from out of town, we can arrange all visits on the same day, and lunch will be provided. Travel and meals will be compensated.
Participants will receive $50 per visit and can earn up to $200 for completing the entire study.
Travel (flights, hotel, mileage) and meals will be compensated, and you will also receive a family day pass to the Henry Doorly Zoo.
There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.
