Study Background

The University of Louisville is conducting a study with mothers of daughters between the ages of 6-8 or 10-12.

Our study aims to investigate social anxiety and other indicators as predictor disorders (ED) pathology in children.

Study assessments will include the following activities, plus more to be described by the research team:

  • Food Diary: The parent will report about the child’s food intake.
  • Emotion and behavior assessments: Children’s emotions and behaviors will be assessed with interviews and laboratory tasks.
  • Interoception: Children’s interoception (e.g., physical sensations) will be assessed using laboratory tasks and questionnaires.

 

This research study will help us learn more about children’s emotions, interoception, and various eating behaviors and thoughts.

You may qualify for a study if you meet the following criteria.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Mother of a daughter aged 6-8 or 10-12
  • Biological mother of child
  • Live within 150 miles of the University of Louisville campus

Mothers will fill out multiple questionnaires. Within a few months, the mother and their child will visit the lab at the University of Louisville. In the lab, the child will do some behavioral tasks, and then both mother and child will be interviewed for additional information. Two years later, the mother and child will visit the lab again and complete more questionnaires and interviews.

There is no cost for you to participate in our research study.

Families will be compensated up to $630 in incentives and financial compensation for completing the questionnaires, interviews, and behavioral tasks throughout the study.
